OUR COMMUNITY
Cultural Importance of Family Care
In many Asian, Central, and South American cultures, there is a deep-rooted belief that it is the family's responsibility to care for their elderly members. This tradition is often seen as a way of honoring and showing respect to the elders, ensuring they remain an integral part of the family.
That is why Steward Hospice Care is providing various options for people with diverse needs and traditions. Taking part of the Assisted Living Waiver Program which has allowed us to serve our patients and their families inside their own home, to get the care they need and meet all other needs they may have, within our power.
Assisted Living Waiver Program
A unique solution that aligns with these cultural values while providing professional support to ease the caregiving burden, by providing Assisted Living in a patients home. Here are some key benefits:
> Support in the Home
The ALW program allows elders to receive professional care services in their homes. This ensures that they get the medical and personal care they need without leaving the familiar environment of their home or being separated from their loved ones.
> Relief for Family
The program provides relief to family caregivers by supplementing their efforts with professional services. This can include assistance with activities of daily living, medical supervision, and respite care, allowing family members to rest and attend to other responsibilities.
> Maintaining Bonds
By enabling elders to stay at home, the ALW program supports the preservation of strong family bonds. Family members can continue to play an active role in their care, providing emotional support and maintaining daily interactions that are crucial for the well-being of both the elder and the family.
> Cultural Sensitivity
The ALW program can accommodate cultural preferences and practices, ensuring that care is provided in a manner that respects the family's traditions and values. This might include considerations for language, diet, and religious practices.
